At this free workshop you will hear ways in which schools are using innovative practices such as project based and transdisciplinary learning and design thinking. You will connect with teachers in similar schools, discover how authentic teaching and learning is used at UTS and explore how the U@Uni Summer School is using a project based approach to learning. You will even complete a mini project of your own! This is perfect for beginners or those who have just started using project based learning.

Who: This workshop is for schools who receive equity funding for being in low socioeconomic areas only
Cost: FREE!
Location: University of Technology Sydney (Room TBC).
What: In this workshop you will:
- Deepen your understanding of the benefits of using a PBL approach and how schools are using it in NSW
- Directly observe project based learning in action in through our U@Uni Summer School program which houses over 200 year 11 students from South West Sydney for two weeks. You will get the opportunity to speak with learning designers and participants in your choice of subject area (courses include science, business, engineering & IT, health, design, media and transdisciplinary innovation.
- Explore how design thinking can be used as a project management to support PBL in your school
- Discover how transdisciplinary approaches are reflective of PBL and can be used in universities and schools
- Apply research, shared experiences and knowledge to your own school context
- Hear from our key note speaker, Lisa Scobie from Kurri Kurri High School who will discuss how PBL works at their school and the success it has brought to their school community.
We will be bringing together some fantastic teaching minds on the day. Our Inspiring Teaching Panel includes:

- Tania Safar, Head Teacher TAS, Merrylands High School
- Nagiha Sahyouni, English HSIE Teacher, Doonside Technology High School
- Kelly Pfieffer, Head Teacher Teaching and Learning (Future Learning), Dubbo School of Distance Education.
