Building educational videos can help with engaging students in their online learning environments.

Video learning resources are widely used in online learning environments and central to the student learning experience. What are the production decisions that affect student engagement in educational videos? What are the available tools to create these videos? Can you do it with your own mobile device?

Join “DIY video for Learning and Teaching” to get insights into utilising videos in your teaching practices.

During the session we will be talking about:

  • Video pre-production guidelines that can improve student engagement
  • Tips for using software technology and smart devices to generate educational videos.
  • Tips for production – choosing a location, framing your shot, lighting, and audio.
  • Advice on choosing the right video editing software for you.

Please BYO device.

What is Tooltime?

Tooltime is a series of short informal showcases, where staff from all areas are given the opportunity to share a gadget, tool, app, workflow or technique. The technologies showcased can range from anything that could engage learners, streamline teaching or are simply time savers. Sessions do not have to formally address teaching and learning concepts in-depth, but rather recognise the technology’s potential capabilities in this area. Each session in the series will run for 30 minutes and are intended for either academic or professional staff.

Disclaimer:

The Tooltime hosts make no claims on the utility of tools and do not necessarily provide support for the gadgets, widgets or workflows presented.
