Tooltime: Accessibility testers and simulators | 5 June - LX at UTS
  • Friday, 5 June 2020
    11:00 am - 11:30 am
  • Zoom – further details provided upon registration

Digital accessibility is important. It’s important because not everyone accesses digital information in the same way and it’s a way to level the playing field. But if you don’t have an access requirement it can be hard to picture what this actually means or know how to check if your content is accessible.

Enter tools like the WAVE, Canvas Accessibility Checker, Who Can Use and Funkify: Disability Simulator. They can help you test something for accessibility or show you how some people perceive the digital environment.

What’s covered in this session

An overview of some of these tools and how you can use them to improve your own content in your subject sites.

Who should come

Anyone with a basic understanding of accessibility principles and would like to know about different tools that can help test and simulate disability to improve their content

What is Tooltime?

Tooltime is a series of short informal showcases, where staff from all areas are given the opportunity to share a gadget, tool, app, workflow or technique. The technologies showcased can range from anything that could engage learners, streamline teaching or are simply time savers. Sessions do not have to formally address teaching and learning concepts in-depth, but rather recognise the technology’s potential capabilities in this area. Each session in the series will run for 30 minutes and are intended for either academic or professional staff.

Disclaimer:

The Tooltime hosts make no claims on the utility of tools and do not necessarily provide support for the gadgets, widgets or workflows presented.
