Tips from Tooltime: brainstorm and ideate with Zoom Whiteboard - LX at UTS

Zoom Whiteboard is a great tool to use to enhance collaboration and engagement in the classroom, whether it’s online, in-person, or hybrid.

In our most recent Tooltime: Brainstorm and ideate with Zoom Whiteboard on 15 March, we explored some of its key features:

1. User-friendly interface with many tools

Zoom Whiteboard is easy to use – you can type, draw, add sticky notes, add PDF or images, and more. You can choose between multiple colours, line thicknesses, and text styles. There are keyboard shortcuts to use for most of the tools as well.

2. Visualisation templates to fast-track collaboration

Ready-made visualisation templates can be added in, such as mind maps, SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis tables, storyboards, and meeting notes to simplify complex concepts. You can even create your own templates to save and use for other whiteboard collaboration sessions.

3. So much freedom and canvas space

There is actually a 12 page limit in each whiteboard, but you can create as many whiteboards as you like. You can zoom in and out of the whiteboard to see how much space you have (there’s a lot).

4. Very high-tech collab features

Zoom Whiteboard lets you collaborate in real-time and you can see who’s on the board writing what. Everyone can also add comments anywhere on the whiteboard. You can also stay on top of what’s happening in class by ‘following’ a user’s movement as they’re editing the whiteboard – or invite everyone to follow you and your actions if you’d like to demonstrate something.
