Meet...the UTS Multi-Faith Chaplaincy - LX at UTS

Inside our doors you’ll find:

  • Meditation groups
  • Scripture discussion groups
  • Regular Catholic masses
  • Muslim Friday prayers (in Sports Hall during academic session)
  • Prayer spaces
  • Spiritual/pastoral support for groups or individuals

We offer events and forums for students and staff covering social, ethical and spiritual topics that help stimulate faith understanding, religious literacy and well-rounded educated adults. The past year has seen a range of fantastic events that brought together people from multiple different faith backgrounds, such as ‘Belief and the Absurdity of Life’ featuring theologian Peter Rollins, and ‘In a world of populist and political extremes, does faith still make a difference’ with a multi-faith panel. Upcoming events include topics such as Environment and Ethical Responsibility, and LGBTI and Religion with Catholic theologian James Alison (Sunday 24th 2-4pm). Get in touch for more events on contemporary faith and spirituality.

New staff and students are welcome to come along to our ‘Maintaining the Faith’ session Friday 28th July, 11-12 at 03.05.08 in the Multi-Faith area.

Staff and students of any faith or no faith are welcome to attend and meet some of our chaplains, and discuss any areas of interest or concern regarding their faith journey at UTS. In the past, people have come to the chaplaincy for all manner of concerns, from the changing nature of their faith in the higher education environment, or simply for help coping with stress. We welcome both staff and students who wish to drop by and meet with any of us. We can also refer students to the Student Services Counselling Service when appropriate.

For students or staff wanting a chaplain to talk to, or to find out about specific faith events or prayer services, meditation groups etc. please visit our UTS web link, or contact the UTS Multi-Faith Chaplaincy Coordinator Joanna Thyer [Joanna.Thyer@uts.edu.au].
