Design Better Learning Experiences! - LX at UTS

If you are a teacher I’m sure you’ve had some days when you’ve thought “Yep, I really nailed that lesson”; your students were engaged and everything fell into place. And then there are other times when it just does not work – for some reason your students don’t quite get what you are trying to teach and their engagement trails off into blank stares. In this video (a follow-up to my previous video on student-centred learning design) I present a model that can help you develop effective teaching sequences. First Principles of Instructionproposed by David M. Merrill in 2002, is a model grounded in the idea that students learn best when they are engaged in solving real-world problems. It’s a simple-to-understand model that will help you sequence your instruction in an effective way.
