Introducing avs.uts.edu.au, your new resource for using AVS equipment in the classroom - LX at UTS

Ever found yourself in a lecture theatre ready to start your class and realised you’re standing in front of an unfamiliar system and you don’t know how to get your slides going? This new website from the AVS Support Team, in collaboration with gurus from across ITD is your solution.

Keeping all of the AV Technology fully functional, flexible and easy-to-use is no small task for the AVS Support Team at UTS, and a big part of this is meeting with lecturers and finding out what they need, and how they’d like the systems to operate. In the course of these consultations, the AVS Team developed some concepts for re-imagining their online resources.

How to use it

  1. Go to avs.uts.edu.au. You’ll need to log in with your UTS staff ID and password.
  2. Click on the ‘Search for AV Equipment in Rooms’ link.
  3. Type in the number of the room you’ll be using.
  4. You’re ready to go! All of the equipment in the room, along with an explanation of how it works, will be at your fingertips. Get familiar with your learning and teaching space before you even step into the classroom.

All the AV support you need

The avs.uts.edu.au website also features links to all the services the Support Team provide, such as in-room equipment demonstrations when and where you need them (anytime & anywhere!) links to the AV Bookings system for the booking of portable equipment such as Powerpoint remotes and Webcams, and all the contact details for reporting faults and getting help as quickly as possible.

Further help

As always, the AVS Support Team are keen to hear from you if you need any help or support, or if you have any ideas of what you think AVS could be doing differently to improve things! Call on #1978, or email avsteamleaders@uts.edu.au if you’d like to chat.
