Google Chrome Profiles: A way of separating yourself from yourself - LX at UTS

To begin, this article focuses purely on Google Chrome. Those who use FireFox, Safari, or *laughs* Internet Explorer, this won’t be of interest for you. However, this might be enough to convince you to make the jump! You may or not be aware, that your UTS email address also doubles as your access to the Google Apps Enterprise account (minus Gmail *sad face*). This means you pretty much have access to all Google cloud-based services including but not limited to Google Drive, Google Calendar, YouTube, and tons more Google Products. This unlocks an amazing potential to begin working in the elusive and ambiguous ‘Cloud’. But! What happens when you use Google for your personal stuff already, like Gmail? Things often get cloudy (pun intended). Introduce Google Chrome Profiles.

Google Chrome Profiles allows you to sign into Google Chrome using a default account, be it personal or professional, and then register a profile for your other account. Meaning there are two distinct accounts registered on your computer, separate from one another. There are two identities on your desktop that allow you to switch easily between your personal account and your professional account. So what does this mean? From a L&T angle, when students send you an email saying they’ve shared their Google Doc with you, all you’d need to do is open your UTS profile in Google Chrome to get immediate access to that Cloud based storage. It’s a little unclear in words, so check this video below:
