Contribute to the 2023 UTS Learning and Teaching Forum - LX at UTS

Mark your calendars – the 2023 UTS Learning and Teaching Forum is on Friday 24 November. This will be an in-person opportunity to share ideas and learnings on campus, with a limited online stream.

This year’s theme: Shaping the future of learning and teaching

As the higher education landscape continues to be fluid and dynamic, we continue to adapt, innovate and reshape our learning and teaching practices. This forum will provide the space for staff and students to come together and share learning from their current practice and innovations, explore new ideas and discuss how they might respond to new imperatives.

Bringing these ideas together in dialogue will allow us to explore and plan how we might shape our future direction across key areas of learning, teaching and curriculum in positive and productive ways. A core focus will be around the future of assessment and our keynote speaker is Professor David Boud.

We have two different ways you can contribute to the program this year:

  • Showcasing practice (10-min presentation; 5-min Q&A) – presenting about your teaching/professional practice
  • Exploring an idea or innovation (10-min presentation; 5-min Q&A) – addressing a current challenge and how you might collaborate with others to put it into action

As with past forums, we encourage a strong student presence throughout the day and invite you to include students in your presentations. We encourage participation and contribution from staff across UTS – academic, professional and casual/sessional academics.

Contribute now: submissions due by 30 October

This is an opportunity for you to showcase your teaching/professional practice and how it aligns with the Student Experience Framework. In particular, we encourage submissions which address future direction around one or more of the following themes:

  • Assessment and feedback including course-level approaches
  • Teaching in the context of GenAI
  • Innovations in technology-enhanced learning and teaching
  • Collaborative team-based approaches to course and subject design
  • Enhancing equity, accessibility and inclusion
  • Directions for work integrated learning

We encourage you to share new approaches you’ve tried, including how you’ve experimented with new technologies, involved students in improving/developing your courses, or moved to more team-based methods. You might want to expand on the idea of ‘dialogue’ – with others, as well as with the ‘non-human’ including GenAI.

This online form will guide you in creating your submission where the aim is to focus on the challenge, your practice ‘in action’, outcomes, and what you learned/have implemented or changed in your practice.

  • Deadline for submissions (using the template above): 9am Monday 30 October
  • Notification of receipt and successful submissions announced by: Friday 10 November

Any questions relating to the forum can be sent to IML_OPS@uts.edu.au
