Enrol for Spring's Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching and Learning - LX at UTS

Are you ready to step up your academic career? This year, IML relaunched the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching and Learning (GCHETL) and feedback from the Autumn session participants has been very positive. Enrolments are now open for the next opportunity for you to become a more effective teacher in an increasingly complex higher education landscape.

There is some really relevant and engaging content which has really stimulated my thinking and learning.

Course participant feedback

In this course, you will:

  • Reflect on your values and teaching practices, and transform your classroom with practice-based learning
  • Connect with and learn from your peers, and grow your own professional networks
  • Develop your teaching and learning repertoire, and advance your scholarship

The GCHETL has been tailored to the participants’ unique teaching and learning environments to enhance student learning experiences, advance their academic career and evidence their impact.

The course structure

  • The revised GCHETL consists of eight 3-credit point subjects
  • The learning is short and intensive over six weeks
  • There are three core subjects and a series of elective subjects (five required)
  • Core 1 subject, 010060 Teaching for Learning, lays the foundation for commencing course-level learning outcomes which are scaffolded across core and elective subjects

Maximum flexibility

The GCHETL has been designed with flexibility in mind. You can enrol in a single subject (core or elective) as a non-award subject – if you decide later to continue studying you can enrol with the next intake and apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL). This is a part-time course and delivery modes are blended, with subjects offered in short teaching sessions of six weeks, to complete the course in a minimum of one and a maximum of  two years.

…the creativity espoused in the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching and Learning is encouraging me to improve areas in which my teaching skills are not as strong, be flexible and courageous…
